We all love getting to know the incredible businesses in St Albans and the surrounding areas – so we asked 5 simple questions so that we could find out more about the businesses available and the fabulous people behind them.
First up is new TBC member, Colin Lock who is the Director of ThreeR Consulting:
Hi Sue, So here goes in reply to your 5 questions:
What’s your name and tell us a little bit about your business
I’m Colin Lock and I run my own HR consultancy, ThreeR Consulting. I provide solution focussed HR advice to primarily SME’s
How does your business benefits your clients
My style is not to give client’s “the answer” but to work with them to help them determine a solution. That way they are learning and are more likely to implement that which we have discussed/agreed.
What made you start your own business?
It’s always something I wanted to do and a generous termination package from my ex employer gave me the opportunity.
What do you do in your spare time?
Two things really; I walk my dog Jessie, picture attached and I plan my next holiday to Walt Disney World in Florida. We love it there and are booked to go again in November for the 14th time. In the attached picture I’m the one on the right.
I’ve attached these two images because – to be honest I don’t need any reason to show pictures of my dog – and the one with Chewbacca hopefully shows a lighter side of me. Not all HR professionals are stuffy and boring!!
What piece of advice would you give your “start-up” self?
The first time you get something wrong it’s a process of learning. It only becomes a mistake if you do it again.
