The Businesses Community in London Baby!

Posted on

We had such a fantastic time at our TBC co-working day in London Baby!  We hooked up with The Businesses Community Enfield as well as St Albans and headed to The British Library which is right next door to St Pancras train station.

The off peak ticket there and on peak ticket back from St Albans was only around £15, and it was great to get a seat on the train and sit back and relax for the 20 minute journey.

Once at the top of the stairs, through the barriers and turning right out of the station, a quick left hand turn and crossed the road, straight into The British Library forecourt with a lovely cafe outside.

Through security (a quick check of all bags) and into the stunning surroundings of the vast library with soooooo many people already hard at work!

It’s a thrive and buzz of activity, but not noisy at all, which you can imagine for a library, but people were plugged in and totally engrossed in what they were doing. And there’s such an array of places to work. From the table and chairs in the café on the first floor, which was where we started, grabbing a quick coffee and a chat with our fellow TBC peeps before getting stuck into some work. There were higher chairs and tables, as well as “proper” desks, lights, plug sockets and usb chargers, making it a fantastic place to work for the whole day, or if you just wanted to pop in for an hour before or after a meeting.

The wifi was a bit suspicious, so I just worked from my hotspot on my phone, however some went for it. Deffo take a phone charger with you as I did have to borrow one from someone else, a superstar guy that wasn’t too frightened by the nutter (me), asking him and then telling him how he’d literally saved my life (can’t be without phone power! lol).

After getting tons done, we met up with other TBC peeps for a lovely lunch in the station itself, a real treat, and lots of juicy information was discussed, lots of things learnt and lots of drive and motivation for our businesses – it’s always good to talk! Plus there was the social side, learning more about each other, the kind of business we are looking for and what we were up to that weekend! 😉

There was time for a quick coffee at the café outside the library for more chit chat, before we then sat at the fab desks and worked until about 6.30pm. Some TBC peeps popped in for an hour, but a few of us stayed for the long haul before finishing the day with a quick cocktail at The Booking Office. Judy then headed off to the cinema, whilst Angel met up with pals, and Jo and I journeyed back to St Albans together.

It was all in all a very productive and inspiring day – so much so, that we’re doing it all again on Wednesday 5th December, back at The British Library – so if you fancy joining us – we’ll be there around 10.15am. You can even take in the Christmas lights and do a bit of Chrimbo shopping!
