Places to Hot Desk in St Albans and Harpenden (ooh and London)

Many of us are finding ourselves working from home and having more flexible working opportunities – whether we work for ourselves or are employed.

And often it’s great to get a change of scene and work in a different environment.

There are lots of places in St Albans that welcome “hot-desking” or working from their venues, that we thought it would be really useful to feature them in one place on The Businesses Community St Albans website – so here you go.  Enjoy!

The Courtrooms – St Albans Museum and Art Gallery

Richard, Paloma and the team welcome you to work from their gorgeous historical Courtrooms in the heart of the new St Albans Museum and Art Gallery in the centre of St Albans City. The Courtrooms are part of the café area and are bright and airy with free WiFi and plug sockets available.

There are sectioned areas to sit in and it’s got a fantastic atmosphere.

The café offers delicious coffee, cakes and treats too!

It’s FREE to hot-desk – simply buy a drink or lunch at the café.

Pop in and say hi

Rothamsted Conference Centre

Claire Flawn and the Team at the amazing Rothamsted Conference Centre invite you to work from their fantastic restaurant area within the Conference Centre in Harpenden. There’s plenty of free parking and free WiFI and the restaurant is large, spacious and has lots of light – as well as delicious food and drinks!

It’s FREE to hot-desk – simply buy a drink or lunch at the café.

The Holiday Inn Express St Albans

Sarah, Will and the Team offer their funky lounge area to “hot desk” from. Located by the London Colney Retail Park just past the Sainsburys Petrol Station, with plenty of free parking, it’s an absolute joy to work from. Head over from 10am to give them a chance to clear up after breakfast, and then settle down and gets lots of things done.

It’s FREE to hot-desk – simply buy a drink or lunch at reception.

Pop in and say hi!

The Mercure Noke Hotel

Located near Starbucks in Chiswell Green, Kelly and the team at The Mecure Noke Hotel welcome you for meetings, hot-desking and co-working. They’ve got plenty of parking, lots of delicious refreshments and lunch and lots of lovely space in various parts of the hotel.

Pop in and say hi – ooh and you can pick up a copy of BizCom whilst you are there! 🙂

It’s FREE to hot-desk, just buy your own refreshments!

The Lower Red Lion

David and the team welcome you to work from their gorgeous pub in Fishpool Street from midday! Lunch is served until 2pm. There is also parking and a lovely garden at the rear. Dogs welcome! Over 12 year olds only in the pub – all welcome in the garden.

The British Library

Yes, we know it’s not St Albans but you definitely need to know about this gem of a hot-desk venue! Right next to London’s St Pancras station (which is a breeze on Thameslink from St Albans), head out of the building to the right as you come up the top of the stairs from the exit platform. Cross the road, turn left and The British Library is just on the right there.

Security will check your bag on entry, and then simply head into the gorgeousness that is The British Library. There’s an array of places to hotdesk – from tables and chairs in their many café areas, to stools and higher tables, right through to fantastic large desks with plug sockets and lamps (get their early to bag one of these babies!).

It’s also great for disabled access too!

It’s a hive of whirring minds and a great place for inspiration! Plus there’s tons of restaurants and bars nearby and you can explore the brand new Kings Cross area which has been completely renovated.

Look out for our TBC days when we head to London and work together from this fantastic venue!
