The New Year sees Herts Chamber of Commerce, named the fastest growing Chamber across the 53 accredited Chambers in the UK for 2019, championing a brand new ‘Let’s Keep the Heart in Hertfordshire’ campaign to help support the economic recovery and stability for the county.

The campaign will aim to achieve a number of objectives in 2021, namely:

Promoting ‘Buy Local’
Organising Supply Chain and Meet the Buyer events
Showcasing Hertfordshire Professional Services
Launching a Platform via the NEW Herts Chamber website to facilitate introductions to companies who have county-based contracts requiring suppliers, talent and services.
Focusing attention on the talent pool of Hertfordshire residents by helping promote apprenticeships and other recruitment opportunities

‘Let’s Keep the Heart in Hertfordshire’ will create new connections and support for Hertfordshire businesses, at exactly the time they need it the most.

Briege Leahy, Chief Executive of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce said:

“Herts Chamber has been working to help support local businesses for over ninety-seven years and the past year has been one of the most challenging so far. Over the past ten months the Chamber team and I have spoken to hundreds of businesses from across a range of industries including: Construction, Engineering, Life Sciences, IT, Creative, Professional Services, Logistics, Food and Leisure to understand their challenges and where there might be opportunities. We decided to create a campaign to help support all those who have an appetite to further strengthen our local economy and workforce. Coronavirus changed the way we worked last year and this year we are on a mission to help re-build Hertfordshire and highlight business opportunities for Herts based businesses thus the launch of our ‘Let’s Keep the Heart in Hertfordshire’ campaign.

We invite all Herts enterprises to get involved and spread the news that the county is open for new business and we will share contract opportunities for those seeking suppliers from within Herts.”

The first event of 2021 to help achieve the campaign objectives will take place on Thursday 11th February from 10 to 11:30am entitled: Supply Chain Summit. Delegates will hear two keynote presentations, for whom supply chains play a vital role. First Mike Butler, Senior Project Manager, Inland Homes will discuss the current development of Cheshunt Lakeside (the site of the previous Tesco Head Office) and offer opportunities for local suppliers.

The second presentation will be from Cherie Norris, Enterprise Zone Manager, Hertfordshire Innovation Quarter- The County’s Enterprise Zone which is leading the development of 3 million sq. ft. of new commercial space over 10 years in Hemel Hempstead, alongside the creation of 11,000 new homes in Hemel Garden Communities. Not only will this ambitious and game changing development transform the area and create 10,000 new jobs, but it will also provide space for Hertfordshire growth companies in the construction supply chain.

Dean Russell, MP for Watford offers his support by stating:

“Without a shadow of a doubt Hertfordshire is blessed with many outstanding companies and talented residents who collectively keep the blood pumping through the Heart and veins of Hertfordshire. Herts Chamber’s new, fresh campaign will help support many of the over 60,000 registered businesses in the county find new opportunities to fulfil contracts, raise their profile and help the unemployed back into employment throughout the county. I would encourage companies West, East, North & South to follow and engage with the campaign over the next twelve months and beyond.”
