NEW CAFÉ & RESTAURANT OPENING IN ST. ALBANS; MEGAN’S FIRST COMMUNITY RESTAURANT OUTSIDE OF LONDON!

Megan’s is the much-loved, independent, dog-friendly spot that everyone wants in their neighbourhood. They are opening on Chequer Street, where Jamie’s Italian used to be.

Megan’s are the heart of the communities that they are in; via both their generous donations to local charities & causes, & through offering their neighbours a relaxed all day dining spot for coffee, all day brunch (until 5pm), lunch, dinner & cocktails. Think groups of friends relaxing in front of the fire for a catch up over coffee & cake, & work-from-homers chilling on their laptops in the day. To romantic evening meals with the occasional engagement proposal, to yummy mummies with pups & kiddies enjoying high tea… To fantastic parties & private dining for locals having baby showers, birthdays & even weddings or just a quick lunch with your dog or colleagues.

Megan’s is the ultimate spot for any occasion, with delicious sharing plates & beautiful décor. Described by Timeout as ‘filthily delicious food in a magical setting’ & by The Nudge as ‘the stalwart of the weekend thanks to their all-day brunch, fairylit interiors and friendly, neighbourhood atmosphere’.

They first opened in 2002, on the Kings Road in Chelsea, as a charming antiques shop that served tea & pastries. They have since grown from this little home, maintaining their charm & neighbourhood feel, with St. Albans being their first venture outside of London.

Both the food & their interiors have a slight Mediterannean influence, making your dining experience feel as though you are in a much sunnier place. For interiors, there are Greek style shutters & tiles, hanging plants & macramé, & tons of fairy lights. And on to the food…

Megan’s pride themselves on their food; using high quality ingredients to create fresh, in-house cooking made by their team of wonderful chefs from all over the world. The menu’s Mediterranean influence comes from their Executive Head Chef, Sercan Ugurlu, who has been integral to the Megan’s family since they had their one restaurant on the Kings Road.

The menu features twists on classics like Eggs Benedict, with Parma ham & sourdough, which is voted best in London by the Evening Standard. Or Mediterranean dishes like their shakshouka baked eggs, a tomato, pepper & celery based dish with 2 organic, free range eggs. Or if you’re opting for something healthier, they have oat & chia vegan pancakes, avocado on toast & homemade granola & on the menu.

At lunch, they have a deli bar, with salads, toasties & protein options, available to eat in or takeaway. At lunch & into the evening enjoy sharing plates, mezzes, & their posh kebabs… Finish off with THE half-baked cookie dough, stuffed with gooey Nutella & topped with salted caramel ice cream & pistachios.

Megan’s will be hosting soft launch events in October 2020, dates TBC. Email ilovestalbans@megans.co.uk to be invited – spaces are limited. They will be holding two events for uniformed services, NHS workers & teachers. There will be a doggy launch evening, where they are encouraging you to bring your pups, with dog-themed gift bags & plenty of puppy pic opportunities. And they will also be hosting two neighbours evenings for local residents. Diners will receive 50% off their bill & a glass of Prosecco on arrival to celebrate 😊
