Excalibur Auctions – Who? What? Why?

Posted on

My husband and I (I sound like Royalty) set up Excalibur Auctions in 2016. We’ve been in the Auction Industry for several years as Model Railway and Toy specialists. Coincidence led us to meet our then business partner (he has since died) who saw a need for a specialist auction house dealing with collectables.  His area of expertise was Movie Memorabilia.  Our first auction was May 2016 and we haven’t looked back.

We’ve just completed our sixth auction which was even more successful than our previous sales. We had more than 500 individual lots of posters, trains, and other memorabilia which sold all over the world.  We use two internet companies to enable customers to bid from the comfort of their own home.  Wherever they may be worldwide.

The auctions keep us busy, but obviously not busy enough as both Jonathan and I have other jobs.  I’m an optician and still work two to three days per week, helping people to choose the best glasses.  Jonathan’s jobs are all auction related from working for a Dutch company, to freelancing as an Auctioneer and Internet Clerk.

We both like the variety, and enjoy the different opportunities afforded by our differing occupations.
